Guest Services Worker* to provide customer service at the
Victor Valley Museum located in
Apple Valley. Positions may also perform duties at other museum historical sites located throughout the County.
Responsibilities include customer service within the Museum, with a primary role as a guest services greeter and cashier, as well as monitoring the facility during special after-hours and evening events, lectures, and meetings. Associated duties are to accommodate special requests by groups, and ensure Museum policies are followed. Additional duties may include assisting Museum educators with events, maintaining museum exhibits and galleries, and performing light physical/lifting tasks, clerical and database input, entry monitoring for deliveries, basic receiving and inventory of store products, and other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.
Position Type: All positions are part-time and are scheduled for up to 39 hours per two-week pay period; evening and weekend work may be required; employees receive pro-rated vacation, holiday and sick leave based upon the total number of scheduled hours. Retirement and health benefits are not provided.
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements of the position include standing and occasional lifting of displays or related museum items.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.
Location: The current vacancy exists at the Victor Valley Museum located in Apple Valley; occasional travel to other County museums may be required.

Minimum Requirements Experience: One (1) year of substantial customer service experience (e.g., museums, retail sales, libraries), with the main responsibility of greeting, assisting, and interacting with customers to provide information, and address inquiries and complaints. Experience must be full-time equivalent, face-to-face interaction, and include use of computers. Experience must be clearly described in the Work Experience section of the Application.
Desired QualificationsThe
ideal candidate will have extensive experience assisting patrons, especially within a museum environment, utilizing excellent communication skills and knowledge to enhance the patron's experience; strong computer and cashiering experience is also desired. This ideal candidate will enjoy working in a busy environment, while serving a diverse population and learning new skills.
