Deschutes County IT manages systems and infrastructure, and provides stable, secure, and reliable technical support services to County staff and clients. The department includes 22 employees and partners with other technical staff throughout the County. The department is dedicated to enhancing security, efficiency, and productivity and provides everything from phone support to application integration.

ABOUT THE JOB: Deschutes County is seeking an Endpoint Administrator to help manage, maintain, and secure the County’s endpoint environment—desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and IoT devices—across multiple departments and locations. Working under general supervision, this role supports device configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure endpoints remain reliable, compliant, and secure in alignment with enterprise IT standards.
The successful candidate will assist with centralized endpoint management platforms (such as Microsoft Intune), support Active Directory and Entra AD (Azure AD) basics for endpoint administration, help implement and troubleshoot endpoint security controls (patching, antivirus, configuration standards), and provide customer-focused technical support and user training. This position also contributes to documentation, audits/assessments, and may participate in business continuity/disaster recovery activities.
Schedule Note: This position may require occasional after-hours work, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs for critical issues, maintenance windows, or emergencies.
This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid of in-office/remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities: - Endpoint lifecycle support: Assist with deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and IoT devices to meet County standards.
- Centralized endpoint management administration: Support and optimize enterprise tools such as Microsoft Intune, including software deployment and update/patch management.
- Endpoint security and compliance: Help implement and troubleshoot endpoint security controls (e.g., security settings, antivirus/EDR, patching), and perform basic audits/assessments to maintain performance, security, and compliance.
What You Will Bring: Knowledge of or experience with:
- Endpoint management fundamentals: Core concepts for managing desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and IoT endpoints across an enterprise environment.
- Directory services basics: Working knowledge of Active Directory and Entra AD (Azure AD) as they relate to endpoint identity, access, and device management.
- Networking fundamentals: Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols used to support endpoint connectivity and troubleshooting.
Skill in:
- Endpoint management tool administration: Ability to perform basic configuration and ongoing support in platforms like Microsoft Intune.
- Technical troubleshooting: Skill in diagnosing and resolving endpoint and user-impacting issues across multiple operating systems (Windows/macOS/iOS/Android/Linux).
- Endpoint security practices: Skill in applying and supporting baseline security controls such as patch management, antivirus/EDR, and secure configuration settings.

Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field;
- AND two (2) years of experience supporting and managing endpoint devices;
- OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Intune.
- Experience with Windows Autopilot and Group Policy.
- Endpoint security experience (patching, hardening, antivirus/EDR).
- Support experience across Windows + macOS and/or iOS/Android.
Necessary Special RequirementsDriving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
Must have dependable transportation and be able and willing to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
