Description
Job Summary: The Activity Leader-Senior Dance is r esponsible for the organization and supervision of special events, programs and activities for the Senior Center. This position organizes and works on-site for Community Dances and coordinates volunteers for dances and schedules entertainment.
Dances occur every other Monday night. Hours and days of work will include some evenings and possible weekends according to schedule needs. This is a part time role, less than 20 hours per week.
The salary range for this position is
$15.76 - $21.27 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions: - Engage population to generate interest and participation.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Generate general interest of senior citizens and promoting classes and events.
- Register participants, including cashiering.
- Coordinate and schedule entertainment or sponsors for events
- Completes bookkeeping duties associated with expenditures, including preparing cash bank, reconciling cash receipts and preparing deposits.
- Participating in required training.
- Inspecting environment and equipment to ensure safety. Manage the set up and tear down of kitchen and other areas as needed. Close the facility at the end of the event.
- Handle emergencies according to established procedures.
- Provides on-site supervision for classes and events.
Other Job Functions: - Occasionally provides front-line customer service to guests.
- Coordinate and supervise volunteers.
- Assist in special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Level and Management Expectations: - There are no supervisor/manager expectations for this role.
Qualifications Education: - Required: High School/GED
- Preferred: Course work or experience in recreation, education or related field.
Experience: - Required: Experience working in Microsoft Office.
- Required: Must be 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- Preferred: Previous experience working with seniors.
Certifications: - Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications with 60 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Previous experience in working with senior citizens and knowledge of senior activity programming.
- Communicate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse group of people, co-workers, and the general public.
- Excellent oral and written communications, work well with others, and plan, organize and create innovative activities.
- Prepare reports and track participation using math principles.
- Depending on duties assigned, may be asked to learn Recreation software (RecTrac)
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent: Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
Working Environment: - Occasional: Exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
- Occasional: Exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
