Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates work of other golf shop personnel in the sale of golf equipment and supplies.
- Oversees the collection of payments for retail sales and rental of range balls.
- Accounts for all money received.
- Oversees the rental of carts and collection of greens and cart rental fees.
- Assigns phone coverage.
- Answers and assists other golf shop personnel with, golf shop service related questions.
- Oversees the arrangement of merchandise.
- Performs support services for tournaments.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:- May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, training, and guidance to others. May perform the duties of Golf Shop Associates
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of golf courses and golf shop products.
- Knowledge of City practices, policies and procedures.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.

- Ability to operate cash register and make change.
- Ability to lead and train others.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus one (1) year of retail business work experience.
- Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:- Valid Texas Driver License.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Experience: - Experience working in a golf pro shop or golf retail shop providing customer service.
- Experience operating a cash register including cash transactions, checks, and charges, and compiling revenue reports for a golf course.
- Retail merchandising experience including maintaining store inventories, and ordering, stocking, and pricing merchandise for golf courses or golf retail shops.
- Golf industry experience including an advanced understanding of the rules of golf, familiarity with golf merchandise and equipment, and tournament work experience.
Preferred Skills: - Knowledge of RecTrac or similar Point of Sale (POS) system software.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Other: - Ability to travel to more than one work location.

The purpose of the
Golf Shop Lead position will be to serve as support for the Director of Golf and the Golf Professionals. The focus of this position will be to collect and account for golf fees and services and to assist staff in providing the highest level of customer service to our golf clients.

- Driver Safety Standards: This position requires candidate to possess a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. If you cannot meet these conditions, you may be deemed ineligible for this position.
- Military/Veteran: An applicant claiming Military/Veteran status must provide a copy of his or her DD-214(s), or valid comparable document, at the time of interview.
- Physical Requirements: Tasks may involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying or using a force equal to lifting up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Work environment includes inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, and you must be physically and mentally able to communicate, respond and work with participant’s needs and safety issues.
Other Information:- Travel: If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Work Schedule:- Variable Work Schedule - this is a 40 hour per week position and shifts for this position will vary.
- May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
- Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.
- May be required to work during city emergencies such as extreme weather events.
Salary Range:$22.05 - $24.26 per hour.
