REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
OPTION 1: A Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university in training, education, organizational development, communications, human resources or a closely related field AND one (1) year of staff experience** in planning***, developing****, and conducting***** staff development training programs and related activities.
-OR-
OPTION 2: A Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of staff experience** in planning, developing, and conducting staff development training programs and related activities.

******One additional year of the required training experience may be accepted for each year of college up to a maximum of four (4) years. This applies to both Option 1 and Option 2.

LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS II - LIGHT : This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

** Staff Experience is defined as : Work which includes assisting and supporting administration by doing research, analysis and making recommendations to line managers for the solution of problems such as organization, utilization of personnel, allocation of funds, workload and workload fluctuation, or programs and procedures for accomplishing work objective.

***Planning is defined as: Work which includes identifying and assessing skills and knowledge gaps, analyzing and evaluating data (e.g., organizational needs, performance trends, employee interest, training evaluations, prior attendance) and using the information to support evidence-based recommendations on new or revised training content and training schedules.

****Developing is defined as: Work which includes researching existing relevant information (e.g., prior curriculum, policies and procedures, laws and regulations) and creating tailored content (e.g., presentations, activities, workbooks, roleplays) for training courses.

*****Conducting is defined as: Work which includes coordinating training (e.g., room reservations, set-up, clean-up) and facilitating (e.g., presenting) training curriculum, tracking attendance and completion statuses, and gathering feedback (e.g., content, trainer) from attendees.

******UNIT/EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
The interpretation for substitution of a college degree is applicants who have additional years of experience, may substitute up to four (4) years of education.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
The assessment will evaluate the training, experience, education, and desirable qualifications you list on the supplemental questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system weighted 100% of your total score.

A minimum score of 70% on the exam is required to be placed on the eligible list.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION : Your score will be valid for six (6) months from the date of your assessment results notice.

VACANCY INFORMATION: The resulting list will be used to fill positions with the Department of Beaches & Harbors located in Marina del Rey.

AVAILABLE SHIFT : M ay be scheduled to workdays, nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on operational needs.
