Description

Overview

The Finance Accountant II is responsible for supporting the financial functions of the organization. The responsibilities include a range of accounting tasks, including recording financial transactions to the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Interface transactions from Municipal Court, RCS Central Cashiering, RCS Development Services, Marina and Solid Waste from various financial systems to Infor FSM

• Reconcile City deposit transactions (cash, checks, credit card, & ACH payments) by utilizing advanced Excel functions for large volumes of transactions

• Investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions on interfaced reports

• Reconcile General Ledger Account: Credit Card Suspense, NSF, and Lockbox Suspense

• Research and identify errors in transaction data from interfaced reports

• Contact departments to explain necessary corrections and collaborate on error resolution

• Query various systems, including Cashbooks, General Ledger, First View, Velocity, PayPal, RCS, IRS, Rhythm for Civis, WatchCaptain, Mettler Toledo, Tyler Technologies, Elavon, and Frost Bank to research errors and discrepancies

• Submit reversal requests to Municipal Court, Latchkey, Parks & Rec, Marina, and Solid Waste for correction on merchant chargebacks

• Demonstrate proficiency in navigating and utilizing multiple financial systems for research and corrections

• Ability to document and update daily procedures in a desk manual

• Updates the Excel Lease Purchase database with accurate and current information

• Processes monthly General Ledger journal entries for Beach Operations, Latchkey and Rec Pro

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Exempt - Full-Time

• Non rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS)

• Three (3) years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• Advanced knowledge in Excel

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
