Description
DescriptionVacancy is in the Department of Families, Children, & Youth. Under supervision of the Department of Families, Children, & Youth (DFCY), provides guidance and support to Family Home Daycare Providers in applying, training, managing, and retaining the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) funding. Supports Family Home Daycare Providers through education and development of guidelines to follow for CACFP, along with processing applications, documentation of activities, trainings, development of program materials and reports. Supports developing a plan to implement and expand the Go NAPSACC Program and the Farm to ECE (Early Childhood Education) initiatives for Family Daycare Providers.

This is a 1716 union position. The hours of work are 40 per week. This is a grant-funded position renewable on an annual basis. The City of Hartford is not obligated to fund this position upon termination of funding . Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesThe examination will consist of rating your training and experience as contained on your application and may include a written test, an oral test, a performance test, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The examination is designed to measure:
Knowledge of:
- Nutrition principles and practices
- Techniques of interviewing and methods of establishing clients' financial status and eligibility for the program;
- Social and welfare agencies, institutions, clinics, and allied cooperating agencies in the community.
Ability to:
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Maintain simple records and to perform a variety of routine functions;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, representatives of other agencies, other employees and the general public;
- Express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Qualifications Open to all qualified applicants who meet the following qualifications: Completion of at least two years of college, preferably with courses in nutrition or dietetics
AND two (2) years of experience interviewing, at least one of which must have been with pregnant women or mothers with pre-school aged children.

If selected, you will be required to pass a physical examination administered by a City physician, a drug and alcohol screening examination, and a background check. If appointed, you will serve 3-12 months of probation. This examination and employment process is subject to all federal, state, and municipal laws, rules and regulations.
