Latchkey Sr. Group Leader-Summer
Description
Overview The Latchkey Sr. Group Leader-Summer position manages daily operations and programming of a classroom that are operated during the summer camp program. The tasks include maintaining minimum standards set forth by THHSC childcare division. This position implements educational/recreational programs to ensure participants have a variety of learning resources, to provide a safe environment, and coordinate special events. The Sr maintains standards of professionalism for the external/internal customers. This position must be prepared to deal effectively with emergency and stressful situations at any time.
Responsibilities • Suggests to the staff to improve the overall quality of site, supervises children 5- 13 years of age
• Addresses any concerns/needs expressed by the children
• Redirects children to limit any possible disciplinary issues
• Ensures site follows minimum standards
• Uses proactive risk management to ensure patron safety, responds to incidents or emergencies and provides aid and accountable care
• Signs in kids upon arrival and are signed out by authorized individuals
• Communicates with Area Manager, field staff, custodial staff, kitchen staff, and school administration
• Talks with parents about special events, field trips, any upcoming holiday, and any positive behavior or concerns
• Communicate with participants about expectations.
• Follows the lesson plans and organizes indoor and outdoor activities
• Plans and execute daily/weekly/monthly special events for site, work with local agencies for guest speakers
• Helps plan special events and set up at least 5 activity centers daily which are age appropriate
• Prepares and assists with daily reports such as incident reports, discipline referrals, Texas Workforce attendance, request supplies, and turn in roll sheets at the end of the week
• Conducts monthly fire and severe weather drills, playground checks, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers check monthly
• Maintains training hours
• Conducts site evaluation to assess needs
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - Part-Time - Temp - 7 hours per week
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• Six (6) months to one (1) year experience
Preferred Qualifications • Class C Driver's License
Licenses and Certifications Required• CPR/First Aid Certified
• Must be at least the age of 18 or older
Required within six (6) months of hire • Site Director Certification

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
