What You’ll DoIn this position, you'll play a key part in maintaining the operational reliability of the City’s wastewater systems, equipment, and facilities. As an Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance Worker, your work will focus on:
- Repairing and installing electrical and electronic systems.
- Testing and maintaining electric motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), alarm systems, and control systems to ensure proper operation.
- Obtaining precise measurements and readings using electrical and mechanical testing instruments, including digital multimeters (DMMs), meggers, micrometers, thickness gauges, and process meters.
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to install equipment in accordance with specifications and the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Installing electrical conduit and wiring for power distribution, controls, lighting, and related applications.
- Maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment associated with gas- or diesel-driven generators, including co-generation systems and emergency portable generators.
- Coordinating and supporting repair and preventative maintenance activities across wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations.
- Performing ancillary maintenance tasks such as disconnecting and removing motors and pumps, and maintaining and repairing solenoids, regulators, and related co-generation system components.
- Operating motorized and mechanical equipment to support effective wastewater treatment operations.
- Preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence using a personal computer.
- Performing other related duties as assigned to support system reliability and operational efficiency.
Incumbent may be required to work stand-by on a rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame. Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Head.

Minimum Qualifications - Required A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to three years experience performing electrical and mechanical repairs and installation on a variety of electrical equipment and working with low electrical voltages up to 480 volts are required.
Highly Desirable : Experience or safety training working around medium electrical voltage (4160 volt) .
License Wastewater: Possession of a valid Class C California driver license is required. Within six months of employment, employee must obtain and thereafter, maintain a valid California State Class A driver license with Tanker endorsement and allowable Auto Transmission restriction. According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), drug testing is required.
About Ventura Water Ventura Water provides drinking water to more than 109,000 people through approximately 32,000 water service connections. This complex water system has more than 391 miles of pipeline, 3 water treatment plants, 23 pump stations and 31 reservoirs. Our community relies on three 100% local water sources - the Ventura River, Lake Casitas, and local groundwater wells, as well as, providing reclaimed water from the Ventura Water Reclamation Facility to two municipal golf courses, the Ventura Marina area, and private customers for landscape irrigation. We maintain a full-service laboratory and monitor our water quality daily.
