Description

Overview

The Gas Foreman is the team leader and serves as the lead welder of a crew or multiple crews that construct and install gas mains, which involves performance and conducting inspections of pipe fitting, welding, making taps, installing services, making repairs, road bores, poly fusion, offsets, stoppling of gas mains, regulator station piping fabrication, large meter loop piping, and providing on-site training to workers and crews.

Responsibilities

• Team lead and Lead welder for crews that construct and install gas mains

• Performing and inspecting pipe fitting, welding, making taps, installing services, repairs, poly fusion, and offsets

• Will act as lead on major gas line projects which involves coordination with contractors and other utilities, reviewing plans, coordinating as-built changes, and assisting to ensure project deadlines are met

• Complete Maximo work-orders and any other required paperwork

• Utilize software programs that track and report work progress

• Coordinate with supervisors on project planning and reporting

• Perform welding inspections and training for other crews and assist when necessary for other un-assigned projects

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

• Non- Exempt - Full-Time

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• Four (4) of related work experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

• Texas Class A CDL with Airbrake Endorsement

• Registering with the Texas Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse

• Certified as a competent welder by the Gas Division in both Acetylene and electric arc welding or must be able to become certified by the Gas Division as a competent welder including polyethylene pipe and fittings fusion

• May be required to obtain welding inspector certification

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
