The Role at a Glance

The TEEX Fire Academy Instructor is responsible for providing training in various courses for the Recruit Program/Public Sector. Training may be performed online, classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or technical assistance. Ulizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Course material is presented using a variety of media. To meet learner needs, the Instructor is responsible for modifying course curriculum when necessary. Maintains skills and a knowledge base adequate to meet current and future instructional requirements. Required to supervise and evaluate student performance as well as competently discuss procedures and techniques and regulations and apply all safety measures.

This position reports to the Agency Training Coordinator.

Qualifications of the Role


Equivalency: Will consider a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an associates degree and two years of experience in firefighting. Must also have one year of adult education and/or training and all required licenses/certifications.
