Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience: - Graduation with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or Home Economics, which includes twelve (12) semester hours in food and nutrition, plus three (3) years relevant work experience.
Licenses or Certifications: Registered Dietitian with the American Academy of Dietetics.

Position Overview:
The WIC Training Coordinator works under general direction. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering and assessing training programs for Women, Infants and Children ( WIC ). Local and State-wide staff.
Grant Funded Position - This position is grant-funded, meaning its financial support comes from allocated funds that may be modified, reduced, or canceled at the discretion of the City of Austin or the grant provider.

Immunization Requirement: - Due to high-risk areas, Austin Public Health employees must comply with the department’s immunization policy.

To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.Serves as liaison between the Training Team, Division Manager, and State WIC regarding Training Center operations and procedures. Develops, implements, and evaluates training plans for WIC program staff. Develops and implements evaluation tools. Develops and implements registration process for appropriate trainings in coordination with State WIC and Division Manager. Coordinates and executes training schedules, including facility reservations and details, such as food, supplies, etc. Documents and monitors completion of monthly and other required staff training. Collaborates with State WIC and Division Manager to gain knowledge of work situations requiring employee training to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and/or technologies. Writes, drafts, and reviews program policies, procedures, routine correspondence, etc. Assists in planning short- and long-range goals and projects. Coordinates University and volunteer requests for placements and assignments in WIC clinics, and completes required Human Resource paperwork and evaluations for students. Serves as preceptor for the State WIC Internship, coordinates rotation, and completes evaluation. Responds to research project requests informing and complying with the City, Department, and State WIC process; reviews project to determine feasibility; and communicates and coordinates with Division Manager. Oversees services and activities, including clinic staffing, supply and equipment needs, and report incidents and accidents, and addresses and resolves immediate customer complaints. Collects, reviews, and interprets data to ensure program metrics are met and improved upon, as needed. Provides regular clinic services to maintain current knowledge and skill level.
