he Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has one (1) Sign Painter position available in the Sign Shop, which supplies most of the signage throughout the vast airport campus at LAX. The desirable candidate must be able to produce various types of temporary and permanent signage on various media including but not limited to metal, plastic, foam board, and banner material. Additionally, this position entails installing graphics and signage using ladders, scaffolding, and hydraulic lift equipment, as well as signage on vehicles, buses, and other equipment; working with graphics designer artwork and producing designs utilizing graphics software, as well as operating a 54" color inkjet printer and laminating machine.

One (1) Position, 9/80 Schedule, Day Shift

Candidate must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver’s License and must be able to operate a City vehicle during the course of employment. An active LAWA Security Badge is required at all times.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a sign painter; or

2. Six years of full-time paid experience as a helper to a sign painter.

Emergency Appointment

An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year.
