Job Summary Salary: Construction Inspector I: $25.21- $32.15 Construction Inspector II: $26.63- $33.955 Construction Inspector III: $28.28- $36.065 Performs technical field inspection and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of buildings, structures, site infrastructures, wastewater treatment facilities, and other public works projects. Work involves inspection of buildings and structures, fire and life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations. Work requires considerable knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, building construction, fire and life safety systems, or mechanical field as well as in-depth knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances. Employees assigned to this classification must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Minimum Qualifications:
PERMITTING SERVICES - ENGINEERING: Associate's Degree with construction-related coursework in area of assignment. All positions require a valid Florida Driver's License and must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
Construction Inspector I : Minimum of three (3) years experience in site construction or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling three (3) years.
Construction Inspector II : Minimum of five (5) years experience in site construction or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling five (5) years. FDOT Asphalt Paving Technician - Level 1 certification and FDOT Earthwork Construction Inspection - Level 1 certification required .
Construction Inspector III : Minimum of seven (7) years experience in site construction; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totaling seven (7) years. FDOT Asphalt Paving Technician - Level 2 certification and FDOT Earthwork Construction Inspection - Level 2 certification required.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
Salary:
USD 25.21 - 32.15 per hour
