Education and Experience : A Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Public Administration or related field and one (1) year of economic development experience.

Licenses and Certificates : Valid U.S. Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

General Purpose

Under general supervision, support economic development activities; maintain economic projects and provide professional administrative support to other departmental functions.

Typical Duties

Provides professional level assistance and diverse administrative support to the Economic Development Department. Involves: coordinating promotional activities such as site tours, assisting with the management of outside boards to include posting, drafting agendas and taking minutes; meeting with businesses to determine their eligibility for economic development programs; coordinating presentations and meetings between local area business, government, real estate and development representatives. Assist in marketing projects to include drafting documents, mailings, and follow up. Respond to general inquiries of the Economic Development Department.

Gather research and analyze economic development information. Involves: study information from a variety of sources, including demographic, incentives, local business climate, local real estate, impact and feasibility studies and local regulations and incentives; interpret and provide information to internal and external customers.

Represent the department at various meetings and discussions concerning the role of the City in economic development. Involves: attend seminars and training programs related to assigned work; with supervision, prepare and make presentations to civic and business organizations on local economic development efforts; participate in a variety of projects in support of the department; and participate in gathering data used in grant applications and other projects.

Assist with economic incentive programs. Involves: review and process applications through incentives guidelines; with supervision, prepare agreements and back up documentation; and review files to ensure companies are meeting contractual obligations.
