Clallam County is seeking a Director of Human Resources for this coastal county spanning the northern part of Washington's Olympic Peninsula in the farthest northwest corner of the continental U.S. Framed by the scenic Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean, this region is known for its mild marine climate, rugged coastlines, enchanting forests and lakes, vibrant communities, and snowcapped mountains rising to 8,000 feet.
CLALLAM COUNTY
Operating out of the county seat of Port Angeles, Clallam County serves approximately 78,000 citizens across 1,738 square miles and is governed by an elected, three-member Board of Commissioners. In addition, 11 independently elected officials help administer County operations. The County provides an array of services including road and bridge construction and maintenance, public safety, health and social services, planning and zoning, recreation and District and Superior Court operations. The County operates with a 2025 budget of $54 million and a team of 450 employees.
THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Reporting to the County Administrator, the Director of Human Resources | Risk Management plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs the operations and activities of the Human Resources & Risk Management Department. The Department operates with 6 FTEs and staffing includes a Senior Human Resources Professional, Senior Risk Management Professional, HR | Risk Management Specialist, Civil Investigator, Payroll, Benefits & Retirement Coordinator and Payroll, Benefits & Retirement Assistant.
