Candidates may qualify at either level listed below.

Facilities Maintenance Technician I: Two or more years of experience in general construction or facility maintenance is required along with mechanical and technical aptitude, problem solving skills, and excellent customer service skills (relevant education may be substituted for experience) . A high school diploma or equivalent is required (experience may be substituted for education) . A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required . Pay Range: $21.75 to $26.51 depending on qualifications and experience.

Facilities Maintenance Technician II: Four or more years of increasingly responsible experience in general construction or facility maintenance is required along with the ability to work independently and in a variety of environments and excellent customer service skills (r elevant education may be substituted for experience) . A high school diploma or equivalent is required (experience may be substituted for education) . A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required . Pay Range: $23.75 to $29.11 depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule:

8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday
Will participate in an afterhours on-call rotation

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I works under general supervision and often independently. A significant portion of their time will be spent responding to work order requests to support the operational function of the buildings. They troubleshoot and diagnose building systems for proper operation. The Facilities Maintenance Technician I will participate in an on-call rotation. This position is part of a two-level career progression of Facilities Maintenance Technician I and II.

Qualifications

Experience:Two or more years of experience in general construction or facility maintenance is required along with mechanical and technical aptitude, problem solving skills, and excellent customer service skills. Equivalent and relevant education may be substituted for experience.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional relevant and progressively more responsible experience may be substituted for education.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: Employees wear personal protective equipment as required and operate various hand and power tools. They work inside and outside in various weather conditions, including wet, cold, and humid environments, and perform tasks such as standing, stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, crawling, and reaching; may work on slick or uneven surfaces. The job involves lifting and carrying weights up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling objects weighing more than 50 pounds, working at heights, and climbing or descending ladders and stairs. Workers may also be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, or sanitary waste. May work in residential/public housing locations.
