The Cloud Security Engineer will be an integral member of the Cloud Security Team, responsible for ensuring the security, compliance, and resilience of our multi-cloud environments. This role will focus on implementing and managing cloud security controls, automating security processes, supporting security assessments, and collaborating with infrastructure, application, and compliance teams to enforce security best practices. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud security frameworks, identity and access management (IAM), logging and monitoring, and security automation across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Additionally, the engineer will work to ensure that cloud environments are built with security in mind, adhering to best practices in infrastructure hardening, networking, and data protection.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Cloud Operations team.

- Cloud Security Implementation & Monitoring.
- Design, implement, and manage cloud security controls, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as NIST 800-53, CIS benchmarks, and FedRAMP.
- Develop and enforce security configurations for cloud workloads, virtual machines, containers, and serverless applications.
- Monitor cloud environments for security threats using SIEM, CSPM, CWPP, and other security tools.
- Conduct continuous threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability management in cloud platforms.
- Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC), least privilege access, and conditional access policies across cloud environments.
- Enforce secure IAM policies.
- Embed security into CI/CD pipelines and automated security policy enforcement.
- Develop security-as-code using Terraform.
- Work with Operations and Infrastructure Teams to ensure cloud platforms are configured securely, including networking, storage, databases, and compute resources.
- Define and enforce network security policies, firewall configurations, and micro-segmentation strategies in the cloud.
- Review and validate new cloud services, ensuring security and compliance before deployment.
- Investigate and respond to cloud security incidents, collaborating with SOC and Incident Response Teams.
- Assist in audits and compliance assessments, ensuring adherence to organizational security policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide recommendations and guidance on cloud security best practices to teams across the organization.
- Experience with AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Experience with AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, GCP Security Command Center.
- Strong knowledge of SIEM solutions and cloud-native security tools.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, FedRAMP, PCI-DSS, HIPAA).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and policy-as-code tools.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Security, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP, or CCSP are a plus.
- Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
