A Fleet Buyer position is available with The City of Fort Worth in the Property Management Department (PMD), which consists of four divisions including Facilities Management, Fleet Services, Real Property and General Services. PMD is a large, fast paced, and rewarding department that is responsible for a wide array of services including: maintenance of the majority of City facilities, maintaining the City’s fleet, land and property acquisitions including right-of-way and easement acquisitions. PMD is seeking to hire a qualified professional to fill the Fleet Coordinator/Buyer position responsible for receiving and in-processing all new vehicles and equipment procured year-round for all City of Fort Worth departments, and for managing the disposition of all city vehicles and equipment at the end of their useful life.
The Fleet Buyer position is vital in managing the age of the city fleet through timely replacement of qualified vehicles. The timely replacement of vehicles allows for reduced maintenance costs, lower fuel costs and improved employee morale. City fleet vehicles are essential to provide services to the citizens of Fort Worth. New vehicle acquisition improves efficiency of city services and timely response to citizen needs.
Minimum Qualifications: - A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business or Public Administration, Purchasing, Materials Management, Economics, Accounting, or closely related field.
- No experience required.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications: - A solid foundation of organizational and time management skills are essential, as the position will coordinate efforts between customer departments, vendor partners, City purchasing staff and other stakeholders within the City of Fort Worth.
- The Fleet Buyer/Coordinator should possess excellent customer relation and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of fleet operations and fleet asset management principles.
- Fundamental understanding of asset licensing and registrations with the proper agencies
- Technical knowledge of vehicle and equipment product lines, fleet management and telematics.
- Knowledge and understanding of vehicles and equipment specifications.
- Relevant fleet industry certifications including Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist CAFS, Certified Automotive Fleet Manager, CAFM.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); Fleet Management System/Software; Purchasing and Financial Software/Applications.
The Fleet Buyer job responsibilities include: - Schedules and coordinates timely delivery of vehicles and equipment at City facilities with vendors and City Departments.
- Confers with departmental Fleet Coordinators to ensure new vehicles meet specifications at delivery.
- Coordinates purchasing activities with city purchasing, vendors, and fleet maintenance teams to expedite in-processing of all new vehicles (both replacement and additions to the fleet).
- Creates asset records, reviews, files and maintains vehicle in-processing documents, and maintains accurate records in the Fleet Management System.
- Administers all necessary titling, licensing and or registering of new and existing assets with the appropriate agency.
- Monitors, reviews and approves invoices for vehicles and equipment to ensure timely payment to vendors.
- Works with City Departments and contractors to dispose of citywide vehicles and equipment in a timely manner to maximize cost recovery through auction proceeds.
- Updates asset records, files and uploads vehicle disposition documents, and maintains accurate records in the Fleet Management System for vehicles and equipment retired from the fleet.
- Maintains contact with vendors; keeps informed of new products, market conditions, and current prices; monitors and evaluates vendor performance.
