Description: Job Description: The Volunteer Program Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive support to Jefferson County Open Space (JCOS) Volunteer Services in a variety of ways including administrative tasks, volunteer and project coordination, and program implementation. Responsibilities include maintaining program software, scheduling projects, and coordinating volunteers and volunteer activities including civic and community group projects. The Program Specialist coordinates assigned volunteer program(s), including recruitment, placement, training, recognition , and engagement of volunteers to support the JCOS Mission and Greenprint .
Schedule :
This position operates on a regular schedule of four 10 -hour days or five 8-hour day s during the week with o ccasional evenings and Saturdays as dictated by volunteer projects and events.
This position is hybrid, primarily in-office / field work and has potent ial to work remotely as needed .
Compensation: Hiring Range: $2 3 .24 - $26. 00 Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

Essential Duties: - Develop and implement strategies and events to increase youth and young adult volunteer engagement, specifically Gen-Z (12 - 27 years old) . Collaborate with area high schools and community colleges/programs to develop and implement formal opportunities for student service-learning projects . Develop a robust high school stewardship program to increase volunteer participation in service projects for sports teams that train on JCOS trails. Plan and coordinate public volunteer projects with stewardship education focus.
- Assist with public information activities for JCOS through visible presence at parades, fairs, festivals, special functions , and at Open Space parks as needed. Participate as a member of the Volunteer Services Team by supporting Volunteer Program events and Program Coordinators Team for comprehensive cooperation and consistency across all volunteer programs.
- Maintain volunteer records and Offero software to ensure appropriate records and files are kept for all volunteers and volunteer activity. Ensure accuracy of databases through periodic audits and reports.
- Prepare supplies and materials for volunteer projects, as directed by Volunteer Program Supervisor. Work with Volunteer Services Team to plan training, events, and recruitment schedules that effectively meet volunteer resource needs for the agency.

M inimum Qualifications: - Plus, a minimum of two years of related experience in volunteer coordination and/or program coordination
- Or an equivalent combination of education & experience .
- CPR and First aid certification, or ability to obtain within first 3 months of hire
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor 's degree preferred
- Experience working with an open space or parks/conservation volunteer program
- Preferred working experience with Offero volunteer management software
- Self-starter, comfortable in varied conditions/working with diverse communities, including under-represented, under-served, seniors, youth
- Results - based experience engaging youth and young adult s
- Event/project planning experience
- Previous experience working with service-learning programs/collaborating with schools to develop service-learning opportunities
- Previous experience in youth education a plus
