DescriptionTHE POSITIONCome join the hardworking and fun staff at the Town of Prescott Valley. Ensure the safety of citizens as they are enjoying the pool and splash pad at Mountain Valley Splash by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
Examples of DutiesIn this position you will: - Be proficient in and knowledgeable of swimming practices in order to instruct all ages and abilities on how to swim.
- Assist with conducting scenario testing.
- Monitor the activities at Mountain Valley Splash to prevent accidents and possible drownings. Exhibit all standards of American Red Cross Lifeguard.
- Conduct pool inspections and completes pool chemical logs and reports imbalances to supervisor.
- Record daily participation numbers and ensures daily cling assignments are completed by guard staff.
- Report any safety concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Be knowledgeable of and perform first aid.
Typical QualificationRequirements:- High School Diploma or equivalent required with a minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience. Experience in a lead role preferred.
- Certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and one (1) year of lifeguarding, recreational assistance, or related experience.
- Candidates may be required to pass a background check and must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug screening.
- Lifeguard Management Certification preferred.

Compensation: This is a seasonal position that may work up to 6 months depending on the workload and performance.
Hourly pay range is $16.54 to $17.37. Seasonal employees are entitled to earn paid time off and accrue a minimum of 1 hour of general leave for every 30 hours worked.

Seasonal employees are entitled to earn paid time off and accrue a minimum of 1 hour of earned general leave for every 30 hours worked and can accrue to a maximum of 40 hours per year.
