ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, Seasonal Paramedics respond to emergency medical and other calls and take appropriate action in the protection of life and property. They assume responsibility for patient care at the scene of a medical emergency; operate and maintain vehicles, apparatus, equipment and stations; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Seasonal Paramedics work under supervision of the Battalion Chief and EMS Specialist for a prescribed training and orientation period. General supervision may be provided by other management personnel of the Fire Department. Technical supervision and direction for Paramedic duties comes from the Medical Director, Base Hospital and County protocols. Seasonal Paramedics differ from Firefighter Paramedic employees in that the latter works in fire line operations.

There are temporary positions, primarily assigned to the Stinson Beach area, for staffing during seasonal tourism and visitation to our Coast and National Parks (6 months). Shift schedules can be flexible, but typically range from 10-24 hours a day with potential of being held on duty if the need arises.

ABOUT YOU

Our Highly Qualified Candidate: We are looking for Seasonal Paramedic professionals with a passion for working together as a team and serving the community. Ideal candidates will be able to make sound independent paramedic decisions. This includes the ability to react quickly and calmly to emergency situations; analyze emergency conditions; and adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action. They will also be able to write comprehensive reports and maintain accurate records; use computers to perform data entry; perform basic mathematical calculations; read and interpret complex technical documents such as maps, diagrams, and textbooks; as well as teach classes and participate in public education demonstrations and activities. We look for Seasonal Paramedics who can follow both verbal and written instructions, engage effectively with the public, and work harmoniously with our team. In addition, the ideal candidate has a valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.
