Job Description:
Land Surveying Intern
Description
OverviewWe are looking for Engineering Interns!
The Land Surveying Internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience and expand your knowledge in a variety of surveying practices. You will be involved in construction staking, topographic surveying, property boundary surveying, and working with survey plats, easements, and rights-of-way. The role includes operating GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and scanners, conducting level loops, collecting data, and performing survey data analysis and calculations. You will collaborate with multiple departments within Larimer County, including Project Engineers, Construction, Road and Bridge, Natural Resources, Code Compliance, and Community Development, contributing to high-quality projects that serve the citizens of Larimer County. The internship offers exposure to diverse project locations across the County, from mountainous terrain to urban and rural areas.
You will need to dress appropriately for outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including hiking in mountainous terrain, crossing rivers and creeks, navigating barbed wire fences, and climbing over or under fences. Work gloves and other personal protective equipment, such as hard hats, safety vests, and sunscreen, will be provided. You should bring your own lunch, snacks, and water for the day, as the survey crew often spends the entire day in the field, far from food and water sources and a significant distance from the truck.
This is a temporary position expected to last until mid-August, with a typical schedule from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. No weekend or overtime hours are required, although there may be the option to work four 10-hour days per week if necessary

- Operating surveying equipment in the field.
- Collecting survey data throughout Larimer County.
- Updating Excel spreadsheets with data.
- Completing Civil3D drafting tasks.
- Researching field projects using tools such as Google Earth, the Larimer County Assessor's site, Colorado Land Surveyor Monument Records, the BLM Cadastral database, and the National Geodetic Survey.
