Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Water Conservation Program Specialist I (Part-Time) in the Department of Utility Services. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Position Information:

• This is a part-time, PERS eligible, position.
• The work schedule will consist of an average of 29 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on the department's need.
• This position will work independently.
• This position will require occasionally working late-night shifts.
• This position will require occasionally working weekends.
• This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or the equivalent
• One (1) year of full-time professional work experience in any of the following or in a combination of any of the following: general maintenance, landscape maintenance, or customer service
• Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483, and must maintain a satisfactory driving record as a condition of continued employment
• Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
• Skill in typing sufficient to type 25 net words per minute at the time of application

ASSESSMENT DATES:

Skill-Based Keyboarding Examination* Remote/Online (Pass/Fail) - Test invitations and instructions will be sent out to candidates upon the closing of this job announcement. Candidates will be allotted 48 hours to complete the assessment. Extensions and re-tests will not be permitted.

VACATION

• Accrued at 9.5 hours per month after first year through fifth year; 12.67 hours per month sixth through twelfth year; 15.83 hours per month upon completion of twelfth year and beyond

SICK LEAVE

• Accrued at 9.5 hours per month from date of hire

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

• Three consecutive days of leave, with pay, per occurrence, to attend funeral for immediate family member; increased to one work week when funeral is held 400 statute miles or more from City of Henderson

HOLIDAYS

• 13 paid holidays per year
• Two (2) floating holidays per year
• The ability to bank holidays, up to 228 hours, that fall on an employee’s regularly scheduled day off

WORK WEEK

• Four-day, 9.5-hour workday, 38-hour work week
• Three-day, 12-hour workday, 38-hour work week for certain positions

UNIFORM ALLOWANCE

• Uniform Allowance - $85.00 per month to employees required to wear a uniform, or $115.00 if required to wear fire retardant clothing
• A $175.00 shoe allowance is provided on an annual basis to those employees required to wear ANSI Z41-1991 or above rated safety shoes
