Facilities Maintenance Access Controls Technician
Description
Performs a wide variety of electronic control system and security management installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repair for all City facilities. Provide support for all other aspects of security, including but not limited to hard key systems, intrusion systems, security cameras, and duress systems. Provide security support services for construction projects under the direction of the Assistant Facilities Manager or project manager.
The salary range for this position is $25.05- $33.82 per hour with a
hiring range of $25.05 - $29.44, depending on qualifications and experience.
This opportunity will be available to applicants until Monday, 1.27.25 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T. Essential Functions: - Manage day-to-day operation of the card access system across City facilities. Including but not limited to issuing credentials, deactivating credentials, setting up groups and providing access.
- Visually inspects, analyzes, and complete preventive, standard and emergency maintenance work on City hard key system and locksets and in a variety of facilities and building security operation systems.
- Manage multiple security support vendors including contracting, scoping projects, budget management, and operational support.
- Perform diagnostics testing on electronic control systems i.e. security systems and network devices for all City facilities working closely with the Information Technology Department and outside vendors.
- Recommends and pursues equipment repairs and upgrades to ensure consistent and appropriate operation.
- Manage hard key system, change cores, make keys, and rekey facilities. Manually performs semi-skilled rough and finished carpentry, electrical, Security Card Access, Duress, CCTV, Network Connected Devices and Termination, construction, and remodeling as it relates to security devices.
- Provide accurate and timely repairs to buildings and systems.
- Maintain accurate and complete information on all work orders, including utilization of on-line project tracking methods.
- Provide consistent communication to customers and management.
- Mentors and trains team members to ensure continuity of system reliability helping to create the most effective work environment for the entire Facilities Management Team in collaboration with staff.
Other Job Functions: - Purchase equipment, parts and/or materials for repairs to buildings or building security systems with Facilities Management Superintendent approval.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education: - High School graduate or GED required.
Experience: - 3 years experience in security system management/ Access Control Technician, Low Voltage Electrical required.
- Experience with Card Access 4000, Facility Locksmithing preferred.
Certifications: - Must possess a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Communicate effectively and diplomatically.
- Must be familiar with personal computers and communicate in a timely manner, including routine use of e-mail and on-line scheduling software.
- Extensive Knowledge of card access systems, intrusion alarms, low voltage troubleshooting, ADA code requirements
- Extensive knowledge of hard key systems, SFIC core systems, handle sets, hard key protocol and general building security
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: - Frequent m oderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
- Frequent e xposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
Additional Working Demands / Conditions: - Performs duties in many different locations that require traveling between buildings.
- Work schedule will vary to accommodate workload and this position will be part of the snow removal operations for City facilities.
