THE CITY

Culver City has a dedicated staff of approximately 800+ employees with an overall operating budget of over $368 million. The City provides a full range of municipal services including Fire, Police, Housing and Human Services, Planning & Development, Public Works, Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS), and Transportation.

THE POSITION

LIMITED TERM - CUSTODIAN

THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TERM AND INTENDED FOR A SPECIFIED AND LIMITED PERIOD OF TIME UP TO ONE YEAR AND MAY BE EXTENDED FOR AN ADDITIONAL YEAR.

*Immediate vacancy is in the Transportation Department*

Assigned duties in the Transportation Department:
Washes/cleans and performs graffiti remediation on the interior and exterior of City motorized equipment.Washes/cleans and performs graffiti remediation on City bus stop shelters, trash receptacles, and surrounding sidewalk areas. General Duties Include: Picks up debris on the floor and sweeps all corridors, lobbies, bathrooms, and offices. Removes any spillage, gum, and other foreign matter. Damp mops the flooring.Empties and damp wipes ash trays and cleans all sand urns.Empties all waste baskets and other trash receptacles and replaces plastic liners.Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains.Dusts, spot cleans, and polishes all furniture and fixtures such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, ledges, partitions and baseboards. Cleans glass coverings on desktops.Spot cleans walls and paneling.Removes fingerprints and spot cleans partition glass and doors.Strips and refinishes corridors, lobbies, bathrooms, and offices with vinyl asbestos, ceramic tile, and other non-carpeted flooring with a spray buff machine, wet/dry vacuum, special nylon brush, and other tools.Damp wipes all blackboards and dusts chalk rails.Cleans and polishes door handles, push plates, kick plates, and stairway railings.Vacuums and steam clean carpets.Maintains custodial supplies and equipment and tools used to clean the building.Replaces lights and adjusts drapes.Maintains restrooms and jail facilities by cleaning and refilling all dispensers, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning all mirrors, hand basins, toilets, and doors.Deliver waters to all departments and empties wastewater.Separates computer paper-white paper, magazines and all other paper, cardboard boxes, bottles, cans and newspaper in all departments. Distributes to various recycling bins.Take city cars to car wash.Moves boxes for office workers. Secures facilities.Sets up and takes down furniture for meetings and events.Sets up video equipment for meetings.
Minimum Requirements:

Training and Experience : Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: some experience in cleaning and maintaining buildings.

Licenses and Certificates : None.
