Description
Position Description: Duties: - Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Prepares and proofreads legal and administrative documents, correspondence, motions, pleadings, briefs, judgments, and exhibits; organizes, indexes, and files legal and administrative documents; and prepares statistical and administrative reports.
- Primary responsibility for the preparation of documents for review by supervising attorney related to felony proceedings.
- Works with the other inter office, clerk of court, judicial, and support staff on felony matters.
- Primary responsibility for docketing and keeping accurate records of hearings, due dates and other critical time sensitive matters.
- Communicates with appropriate parties regarding case status.
- Receives and screens incoming calls to attorneys; answers routine questions and takes messages or forwards calls to appropriate staff members.
- Copies and distributes legal documents and other materials for timely filing with the appropriate court and individuals.
- Types subpoenas, and convey applications, according to departmental procedures and established deadlines; notifies subpoenaed individuals of changes in court dates and reissues subpoenas as required.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.
- Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training.
- Fills in for receptionists and other legal secretaries as necessary.

Job Prerequisites: Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED. Familiarity with court system preferred.
Notary public certification (may be obtained during first year of employment)
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):Must be organized, dependable and works well with the public.
Compensation: Salary: $20 - $24 hourly, Commensurate with Experience
