SALARY INFORMATION
Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and the successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following date:
Effective June 27, 2025 - 4.00% increase

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This recruitment is being held to establish an open eligible list to fill current and future Maintenance Inspector vacancies within OC Public Works.

This recruitment may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

OC PUBLIC WORKS
OC Public Works (OCPW) provides services on a regional basis to unincorporated areas, to cities, and to other County agencies and departments. The primary mission of the department is to protect and enrich the community through the sustainable delivery of projects and services. OCPW’s guiding principles are safety, integrity, quality, teamwork, and adaptability.

OCPW is a unique County department comprised of ten service areas: Administrative Services, OC Construction; OC Development Services; OC Environmental Resources; OC Fleet Services; OC Facilities Design & Construction; OC Facilities Maintenance; OC Infrastructure Programs; OC Operations & Maintenance; and OC Survey.

OC OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
OC Operations and Maintenance (O&M) is a service area within OCPW whose goal is to serve the citizens of Orange County by providing a safe environment and enhanced quality of life through improvements to and maintenance of public infrastructure. Operations and Maintenance provides a wide range of planning, design, project management, construction, and maintenance services to Orange County's unincorporated areas, including 380 miles of flood control channels, 4 dams, 8 pumping stations, 336 road miles, and other infrastructure. O&M provides public works services for contracted cities. O&M also plays a crucial role in responding to the needs of the public in the aftermath of devastating fire and storm events and other general emergencies.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Maintenance Inspector classification specializes in inspection, investigation, customer service/complaints, planning and scheduling work for County work crews and contractors, contract management and administration, and assisting in the maintenance and improvement of public works facilities. The position offers the ability to provide direct public service in the upkeep of all County infrastructure to meet the community and/or resident needs.

The job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will possess three (3) or more years of journey-level experience in contract administration, flood fighting, emergency management, and working with horizontal infrastructure maintenance.

LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Human Resource Services (HRS) screens all application materials for minimum and/or desirable qualifications. Structured Oral Interview | SOI (Weighted 100%)
Candidates will be interviewed and rated by a qualification appraisal panel of job knowledge experts. Each candidate's rating will be based on responses to a series of questions designed to elicit the candidate's qualifications for the job. Only the most successful candidates will be placed on to the eligible list.

Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures above may be modified. Candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.
