STREET MAINTENANCE WORKER I

We are accepting applications for the position of Street Maintenance Worker I in the Street Department.

Examples of Work:

• Paints parking lot markers
• Maintains, installs and repairs Street and Regulatory signs
• Installs, repairs and removes special event signs and banners
• Responsible for mowing, weed eating, trimming, edging and chain sawing around signs, markers at Abatement properties, on sidewalks, alleyways, etc. around the City.
• Operates a variety of equipment to include front mount mowers, bush hogs, UTV’s, boom mowers, ride on edgers, and etc.

Starting salary is $33,892.00 annually ($16.30/hr.) with excellent benefits including paid health, dental, and life insurance, retirement through State of Alabama Retirement Systems, and paid holidays, vacation, sick leave and annual merit raises. A valid driver’s license is required.

Education and/or Experience:

• Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and (1) year of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Demands:

• The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
