The JobThe Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for
Pre-Registered Dietitians who plan, develop, implement, and evaluate community nutrition programs for targeted populations. Pre-Registered Dietitians work under close supervision while waiting to take the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics examination for registration as a Registered Dietitian. Immediate vacancies exist within the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program .

As an alternative to the traditional benefits package, you may also be eligible to elect the Modified Benefit Option (MBO) that provides an increased base rate of pay ($1.75 per hour above the base rate of pay) with modified benefits. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel/Driver License: Incumbent may be required to travel throughout the County to work in multiple offices within a specified region, such as the High Desert (e.g., Victorville, Barstow), Low Desert (e.g., 29 Palms, Yucca Valley), and surrounding San Bernardino areas. Employees may be required to make provision for transportation; mileage reimbursement is available . At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Dietitian Registration: Upon successfully obtaining a Dietitian Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, incumbent may be eligible to promote to the Registered Dietitian classification .
Minimum RequirementsApplicants must meet
one of the following qualifying options:
Option 1: Possession of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutrition Science, Food and Nutrition, Food Science, Nutrition and Health, Community Nutrition, Home Economics with Nutrition emphasis, or a closely related field of study.
-OR-Option 2: Registered Dietitian (RD) Examination Eligibility**: Applicant
must complete all academic and supervised practice requirements to meet the eligibility requirements to take the RD examination as set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) , the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. (
IMPORTANT: The Authorization to Test email received from Pearson VUE, CDR's testing agency, confirming that CDR has validated your eligibility requirements and has approved you to take the RD examination,
must be submitted with the application if qualifying under option 2.)

Desired QualificationsApplicants who are eligible to sit for the Registered Dietitian examination are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
