About the University: California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. About the Program: The Environmental Science and Resource Management Program at CSU Channel Islands offers undergraduate degrees in Environmental Science and Resource Management: Earth Systems Emphasis and Marine and Coastal Systems Emphasis. The ESRM program prepares the next generation of Environmental Science professionals with hands-on experience in a variety of environmental technologies including aerial and aquatic drones, remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems, and water quality assessment. We equip students with skills in quantitative data analyses and presentation, technical writing, and a wide variety of field and lab methodologies. Our program strongly emphasizes interdisciplinarity and applied research to grapple with today’s pressing resource management challenges, often focused on California’s Coastal Zone. In addition to our main campus in Camarillo, our courses frequently utilize our facilities in Channel Islands Harbor and Santa Rosa Island as well as partner sites across southern California.
About the Position: The Environmental Science and Resource Program at California State University Channel Islands accepts applications on an on-going basis for our pool of full- and part-time lecturers. Teaching needs and responsibilities range across the broad field of Environmental Science from introductory courses exploring principles of sustainability and environmental ethics to upper division courses spanning Conservation Biology, Restoration Ecology, Ecotoxicology, Land Management, and Environmental History. Applicants with expertise in drone piloting, remote sensing, GIS, ecotoxicology, data visualization and analyses with R, and other technical skills are welcomed and encouraged.
Minimum Degree Requirements: • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline
Required Qualifications: • A minimum of one year teaching experience in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Commitment to active, engaged teaching and willingness to innovate and collaborate with our engaged faculty across our department.

Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.
Preferred Qualifications: - Ph.D. in a related field (e.g., environmental science, biology, chemistry, geomorphology, urban planning, environmental justice, sustainability) and demonstrated teaching experience at the college or university level.
Responsibilities:The major responsibilities include the instruction of lecture and lab courses in the Environmental Science and Resource Management Program.
- Develop syllabi for assigned courses, adhering to CSUCI syllabus policy
- Develop materials, teach, and assess student learning in the assigned courses
- Hold regular office hours for students in the course
- Engage with fellow faculty in the program

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
