THE POSITION
This is an opportunity for an experienced healthcare leader to shape access, performance, and service delivery in a mission-driven public health system serving a diverse community. The position provides leadership over clinic operations, provider scheduling and access, staffing and workflow, fiscal and revenue-cycle performance, compliance, service quality, and continuity of care. The successful candidate will be a visible, collaborative leader who builds trust, engages staff and providers, develops strong managers and teams, and creates a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Working through subordinate managers and supervisors, the incumbent will align people, processes, technology, and resources to improve clinic performance; use data and electronic health record systems to identify opportunities and solve operational challenges; and exercise sound fiscal stewardship over budgets, expenditures, contracts, grants, and other resources. This role is well suited for a leader who combines operational discipline with strong relationship-building skills and who is energized by improving patient access, supporting the workforce, strengthening systems, and delivering high-quality, financially sustainable care.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare operations leader who can effectively manage complex outpatient clinic operations while building staff engagement, accountability, and trust. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong operational leadership in multi-site health center or ambulatory care settings.
- Ability to hold provider schedules and clinic operations accountable for access, coverage, productivity, and workflow.
- Skill in gaining staff and provider buy-in when implementing operational changes.
- A leadership style that supports morale, teamwork, staff development, and clear performance expectations.
- Solid understanding of health center operations, including patient access, staffing, clinic flow, compliance, quality, and revenue-cycle considerations.
- Experience using electronic health records and healthcare systems, preferably EPIC or a comparable EHR, to support scheduling, workflow, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Strong fiscal stewardship, including budget oversight, resource management, expenditure control, and attention to financial sustainability.
- Ability to use data and performance measures to identify issues, improve workflows, and drive results.
- Strong partnership skills with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, administrative staff, and executive leadership.
- Sound judgment, follow-through, and the ability to balance accountability with a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
