Summary
The Muscatine County Sheriff's Office will conduct testing on multiple dates to maintain a hiring list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. The position is full-time and includes county health benefits and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Beginning salary is $31.26 per hour for an uncertified officer (additional if certified, depending on experience). Job offers will be contingent upon passing a background check, which may include drug testing and polygraph.*New residency policy*The Muscatine County Sheriff's Office has revised its residency area to include the bordering counties of Scott, Cedar, Johnson, and Louisa.Testing will be held on the following dates: Saturday, June 27, 2026; Saturday, September 19, 2026; Saturday, January 16, 2027; Saturday, April 10, 2027. Physical testing sign in will begin at 9:45 A.M., with test beginning at 10:00 A.M. (Iowa certified officers are exempt from both physical and written testing. Certified officers may have to acquire their most recent POST exam score). Written test will begin at 12:0 P.M. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry.
