Summary
Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety
As the department's Health and Safety Officer (HSO), plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities necessary to implement a comprehensive Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program.
Prepares and develops specialized Flight Management Plans and Standard Operation Policies/Guides defining mishap prevention, handling, and storage procedures based on interpretation and/or adaptation of instructions and policies formulated by higher headquarters or other federal government agencies.
As the department's Hazardous Materials Response Program Manager, manages the various program elements to prepare, equip, and respond to emergencies involving the release or potential release of hazardous materials into the environment.
As the primary Incident Safety Officer (ISO), participate within the incident management system as a command staff member and respond in accordance with SOP/SOG to emergency incidents.
Plans investigations and analyzes mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements and prepares written reports concerning findings.
