Summary
Patrol Officer, Airport Security Police
Maintains order and works with the Shreveport Police Department to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. May drive public and airport employees. Drives security vehicle. May operate central radio system. Patrols assigned areas; responds to emergencies; conducts security checks; inspects runways, taxiways, etc. Maintains log, completes required reports. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1) Must be a high school graduate and not less than 21 years of age. 2) Currently POST certified by an accredited Louisiana Law Enforcement Training Academy or successfully complete a POST certified within one year of employment. 3) Possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of hire. 4) Must have good moral character and history that can withstand an extensive background check; physical strength and agility; excellent eye-hand-foot coordination and a demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
Physical Requirements: These physical requirements are not exhaustive. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Corrective lenses may be used to meet these requirements. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Shift work - days, swing, graveyard rotating shifts, work on holidays, varying days off. Work is mainly outdoors, hazardous and potential risk involved.
