Position Summary: Under the supervision of Surveillance Manager, responsible for the handling confidential information from Tribal Operations, Public Safety, Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, Saganing Eagles Landing Casino, Bingo Hall and the Slot Palace. Supervise and coordinate activities of surveillance team members.
If selected for this position you are unable to transfer to any other gaming department within SELC or SECR unless having been gone for a minimum of 2 years from the Surveillance Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain variance reports from each cash handling department. Chart variance reports and investigate patterns of shortages.
- Make recommendations concerning policies and procedures whenever appropriate.
- Coach and instruct surveillance team members which may include disciplinary action up to and including terminations. Evaluate and make recommendations assigned team members.
- Report associate procedural errors, theft, suspicious or inappropriate behavior, etc. to department managers/supervisors.
- Review video when requested; relay video findings as necessary.
- Maintain daily schedules to ensure that the Surveillance suite is adequately staffed at all times.
- Control picture and video releases to authorized personnel only.
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
- Contact with Tribal community to include tribal youth, employees within immediate organization, and members of the general public as individuals or groups.
- Contact with Surveillance team members and management to ensure a smooth running operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Three years of experience in casino surveillance.
- Must be on call 24/7 including holidays.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license or pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Desired Qualifications:
- One year in a supervisory capacity.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid State of Michigan Drivers License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Drivers License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all casino games.
- Knowledge of investigative procedures and techniques; knowledge of fraud detection.
- Knowledge of Policies and Procedures.
- Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, FileMaker Pro and PowerPoint.
- Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned team members.
- Ability to train surveillance personnel in equipment, games, and day to day operations.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to analyze information and write reports.
- Ability to work in a stressful fast paced environment.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer operation.
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Frequent walking throughout casino and hotel/resort.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Normal Surveillance office.
- Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
