Job Description

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

• Perform all duties and responsibilities of an Armed Security Officer.

• Takes responsibility for administrative operations when the Lieutenant assigned to the shift is out:

o Perform efficient operations and direct supervision of assigned personnel within their assigned squad.

o Assume complete charge of an incident in the absence of a superior officer.

o Issue and enforce work orders and directives to their assigned personnel in conjunction with the daily operation of their assigned duties.

o Review Security Officers' daily work, i.e., Incident Reports, Daily Activity Reports, etc. and ensure the reports are comprehensive and free of errors.

o Interpret policies, procedures, ordinances and laws, and apply them to university activities and situations.

o Ensure all employees under their supervision conduct themselves in a professional manner reflecting favorably upon the department and university.

o Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.

o Assist in the development and implementation of security/traffic control plans for special events occurring on university properties.

• Assume responsibility for department levels projects to which assigned, e.g. vehicle maintenance, equipment inventory.

• Any other duties as assigned by the Captain - Patrol, Captain - Gilcrease, and/or Director of TU Security.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability Equivalent Education/Experience

• Proficiency utilizing a computer with Microsoft

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

software;

• Excellent written, verbal communication and

interpersonal skills; • Meeting or exceeding the minimum job standards of a University of Tulsa Security officer. • Currently employed in good standing in the TU Security Department. • Ability to meet and maintain the requirements set forth in 59 O.S., section

• Ability to de-escalate potentially dangerous and emotional situations. • Ability to work with minimal supervision; • Ability to exercise total discretion in managing sensitive and confidential information; • Ability to meet and maintain the firearms qualification standards established by the University of Tulsa Security Department; • Ability to successfully meet and maintain the physical fitness standards established by the University of Tulsa Security Department. • Ability to supervise and lead teams of people. 1750.1 et seq., The Oklahoma Security Guard and Private Investigator Act; • Certified for CLEET: Phases 1-4 (Private Investigator & Armed). • 2 years in an acting law enforcement or security management position responsible for patrol officer duties or direct reports. (Preferred) • Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security management, or related field. (Preferred)

Special Job Dimensions:

The Armed Security Officer-Lead position requires physical stamina to perform assigned shift in all types of environmental conditions, safely operate a motor vehicle, safely perform bicycle patrols, perform foot patrol, stand for extended periods of time, defend themselves and others in actual physical combat, occasionally lift and move people or heavy objects, climb or jump physical obstacles, and run various distances.

This position requires shift work - hours and days may vary. May be required to work holidays, weekends, and/or after hours for special events hosted on university properties. May be subject to call back in the event of an emergency or because of special events. Will be assigned a primary location, but may be required to work at a different site on occasion, e.g. main campus, Oxley Health Sciences Facility, Gilcrease Museum.
