Summary
Dispatcher Position
The Dispatcher position is responsible to ensure timely, accurate and efficient service to GWI customers and drivers. Requires strong problem-solving skills, leadership, mentoring abilities, multi-tasking and superior communications ability. Primary job responsibilities include:
- Ensuring independent contractor satisfaction by facilitating load distribution.
- Achieving driver retention and growth goals by ensuring driver success while maintaining strong relationships with the independent contractors and employee drivers.
- Working closely with critical departments (e.g., Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, Sales) to best serve our drivers (independent contractor and employee) and internal and external customers.
- Promoting a culture of operational excellence focused on safety and quality.
- Executing daily workload while ensuring customer requirements are met to achieve world class service.
- Tracking and managing all Gulf Winds equipment to ensure proper utilization.
- Cross-training to cover workload distribution when the Terminal Manager is out.
- Openly communicating challenges/opportunities as they arise along with creative solutions to overcome.
- Managing cost with a focus to increase profitability of the terminal as well as minimizing cost to our customers.
- Ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness/up-keep of the facility, as well as ensuring the facility is stocked with the correct supplies and materials.
- Managing quarterly KPIs to support company goals.
Requirements include:
- Organizational skills.
- Professional communication & writing skills.
- Self-starter with willingness to work with minimal supervision.
- Problem resolution skills.
- Computer skills (Internet and Prism Software preferred).
- Computer literate with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Logistics and intermodal experience preferred.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Dependable and able to work independently.
- Previous transportation experience preferred.
