Description

The Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill one full-time regular positions to provide a variety of clerical support for the Transmission & Distribution Department to include receiving and responding to questions from the public, other District staff, and outside agencies; to prepare documents from marginal notes, rough draft, or verbal instructions; and to provide other support duties as assigned.

The position will be filled at the appropriate level based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Any qualified individual may apply. This is a non-exempt position and is allocated to the Administrative, Technical, and Clerical Bargaining Unit. The list established as a result of this recruitment may be used to fill other Clerk I/II vacancies within the District that may occur through July 27, 2027.

Clerk I This is the entry level class in the Clerk series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience. The Clerk I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under general supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to direction as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.

Clerk II This is the journey level class in the Clerk series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.
This class is distinguished from the Clerk III in that the latter is responsible for providing indirect supervision and performing the most complex tasks.
Supervision Received and Exercised

Clerk I: Receives general supervision from a higher level supervisor or manager.
Clerk II: Receives direction from a higher level supervisor or manager.

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: One year of increasingly responsible clerical experience.

Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

License and Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.

Clerk II

In addition to the qualifications for the Clerk I:

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience similar to Clerk I with the District.

Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

License and Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
