helping experienced healthcare professionals grow?We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Educator to support nursing staff across correctional healthcare facilities through in-person and remote training, coaching, and professional development.
This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is comfortable engaging adult learners in challenging environments, can confidently facilitate accredited continuing education programs, and able to travel to healthcare units to support frontline nursing teams. Success in this position requires resilience, adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to earn credibility with seasoned healthcare professionals.
Work Environment:This position requires regular travel to correctional healthcare facilities to conduct onsite training and support nursing staff. Candidates should be comfortable working in secure environments and interacting with a diverse healthcare workforce. Occasional extended hours or standby responsibilities may be required to support operational needs.
Major/Essential Functions- Assess learning and training needs of nursing and clinical staff in collaboration with nursing leadership.
- Design and manage standardized clinical orientation programs for new hires.
- Develop and deliver educational programs that support clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
- Create and update training materials, presentations, and learning resources for nursing staff.
- Facilitate engaging in-person, virtual, and hybrid training sessions for staff across multiple locations.
- Travel to assigned facilities to provide onsite education, coaching, and support to nursing teams.
- Support the development and delivery of continuing education (CE) activities for nursing staff.
- Assist with new employee orientation and onboarding programs to ensure staff are prepared for their roles.
- Participate in competency assessments and skills validation activities for nursing and clinical staff.
- Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities to support staff growth and performance.
- Maintain educational records, training documentation, and learning resources.
- Partner with nursing leaders to evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Serve as an educational resource for nursing staff, supporting evidence-based practice and quality patient care.
Required Qualifications- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related field.
- Current license or valid permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- At least four years nursing experience.
