POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Butte College operates one of the largest community college student-funded bus transportation services in California.
The mission of the Transportation Department is to provide safe, clean, efficient bus transportation to assist students in reaching their educational goals and to also support facility maintenance, grounds, custodial and educational programs with maintained fleet vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate would be highly motivated and task oriented, with the capability to service, repair and inspect a large variety of different types of vehicles and equipment.
The current regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the summer, the work schedule changes to Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work schedule may vary dependent upon District need and may include work on weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience- High School Graduate or General Educational Development (GED); OR
- Certificate of completion of a formal trade apprenticeship program related to the classification, OR
- Associate degree* with coursework in automotive technology or related discipline; AND
- Two (2) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
*Associate degree education equivalency is a 1 to 1 equivalency, one year of responsible work experience related to the classification for each full year (24-30 units) of college.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION, SPECIAL AND/OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver license with school bus, air brake, and passenger endorsements issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) OR a Class C license with the ability to obtain a commercial license with the required endorsements issued by the California DMV within the first 6 months of employment (probationary period).

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS- The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.
- Education Code § 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that they are free of active tuberculosis.
- As a condition of employment, the District requires that you provide fingerprints prior to beginning work. You may be fingerprinted at Butte College Human Resources by appointment, or you may be fingerprinted at another agency. Should you be fingerprinted at another agency, the rolling fee charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the fingerprint report is the employee's responsibility at the time of printing.
