WHAT WE OFFER

The County of Ventura offers an attractive compensation and benefits package that includes:

Employee only - $463.99 per biweekly pay period

Employee plus one dependent - $834.32 per biweekly pay period

Employee plus two or more - $1,024.11 per biweekly pay period

Payroll Title and Salaries:

Office Systems Coordinators I/IIs are represented by the Services Employees’ International Union (SEIU) and are eligible for overtime compensation.

Under general supervision (Office Systems Coordinator I, OSC I) or direction (Office Systems Coordinator II, OSC II), provides technical assistance to department/agency personnel by supporting and coordinating tasks related to computers, networks, and office automation systems.

Office Systems Coordinator I differs from OSC II in that the latter is assigned a greater scope of responsibilities and exercises more independent judgment.

Office Systems Coordinator II differs from OSC III in that the latter is assigned a greater scope of responsibilities, exercises more independent judgment, and may act in a lead capacity.

Typical Qualifications

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Some (OSC I) or considerable (OSC II) experience in automated computer and office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required competencies, which can be obtained by completion of pertinent computer systems coursework and two (2) years of related experience for OSC I, or three (3) years for OSC II.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

Depending on assignment, a valid California driver’s license may be required.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE - qualifying: All applicants are required to complete and submit the questionnaire for this examination AT THE TIME OF FILING. This questionnaire may be used throughout the examination process to assist in determining each applicant’s qualifications and acceptability for the position.

APPLICATION SCREENING - qualifying: Candidates’ applications, resumes, or other required documentation will be evaluated on a comparative basis against pre-established criterion. Those individuals whose materials best indicate possession of the stated requirements, may be invited to continue to the next step in the screening and selection process.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION - 100%: A job-related written examination will be administered to test candidates’ knowledge of computer usage, operations, terms and definitions, help desk/desktop support, and customer service. Candidates must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.

Candidates successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regulate (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies for these classifications throughout the County.

NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbent may be promoted to the higher level without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstration satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A thorough pre-employment, post offer background investigation which may include inquiry into past employment, education, criminal background information and driving record is required for this position. For those classifications that are subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, incumbents will be tested prior to driving a commercial vehicle and may be randomly tested thereafter.
