In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Industrial Maintenance Mechanic - Brightwater Career Service vacancies within the Wastewater Treatment Division over the next 6 months.

King County's Wastewater Treatment Division is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to be a part of the East Mechanical Unit. Join a skilled team of maintenance professionals responsible for keeping one of the Pacific Northwest's most advanced wastewater treatment facilities operating safely and reliably. This position offers hands-on work with large industrial equipment, opportunities to expand technical expertise, and the chance to support essential environmental services for the region. Employees who are actively engaged in their professional growth have opportunities for advancement to Industrial Maintenance Mechanic-Master, as well as potential leadership roles as they become available.

About The Role:
Working as part of a team, this person will apply their maintenance experience to perform high-level repairs on a variety of rotating mechanical equipment, including-but not limited to-biosolids decanting blowers, influent and effluent pumps, biogas scrubbing compressors, gearboxes, conveyance systems, and multiple piping systems. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented and contributes to a safe, collaborative, and positive work environment. They will support a team culture focused on effective communication, working closely with other groups, and following good shop practices to maintain a high standard of workmanship.

About The Team:
Employees in WTD play a key role in the environmental stewardship of the local community while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This position provides the opportunity to work collaboratively on major projects and repairs involving pumps, piping, gearboxes, and other critical plant equipment. The Mechanical team currently consists of 6 team members who work closely with Operations, Instrumentation, and Electrical staff to maintain equipment at Brightwater Treatment Plant and various offsite facilities.
