POSITION SUMMARY

This position requires the hired candidate to have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class A or Class B with Air Brake endorsement at the time of application and upon hire. Failure to maintain an active CDL endorsement will result in separation from City employment.
Performs progressively responsible grounds maintenance duties. Displays more specialized knowledge in the area of tree trimming. An employee in this class usually functions as a crew leader.

This job classification is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.Minimum of three (3) years of related experience using equipment powered by motor and other hand tools.Depending on the department and area of specialization: To claim Veterans’ Preference, candidates must attach to the application a copy of military separation papers (DD214) and service-connected disability documentation (if applicable) to meet eligibility requirements as stipulated by Florida Statues. As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
