Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Hospital Food Services Workers who perform a variety of tasks in the preparation and serving of food. Duties include operating cash registers; accepting and receipting monies; washing and preparing food for cooking; preparing sandwiches and salads; supplying food to steam tables; operating dishwashers and other kitchen equipment; removing and stacking dirty dishes; cleaning, sweeping and mopping floors; and overseeing the delivery of food trays to patients.

English/Spanish bilingual skills are desired.

The eligible list will only be used to fill vacancies at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Extra-Help positions are also available. Applicants must indicate a willingness to accept an extra-help position which does not offer benefits but will offer a higher salary.

Extra-help positions are paid at a higher salary and are in the Unclassified Service which serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. These positions participate in the County's Part-time Seasonal Temporary (PST) Deferred Compensation Plan and do not earn any other benefits. Candidates selected for Extra-Help positions are not precluded from being considered for full-time positions and may remain on the eligible list for full-time employment.

Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Colton, California (50 miles east of Los Angeles), Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. ARMC is the primary teaching hospital for the adjacently located California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM), the Inland Empire's newest medical school. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants selected for this position must pass a background investigation, which includes verification of employment and education.

Physical: This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, squatting, and reaching.

Certification: A valid Food Handler's card issued by San Bernardino County is required at the time of hire. Please review to learn about obtaining a Food Handler's card issue by the County of San Bernardino.

Work Schedule: Candidates must be available to work all shifts; day, swing, night, rotating, holidays and weekends. Please indicate your willingness to work all shifts in the Supplemental Questionnaire. Graveyard shifts are also available. Please indicate your willingness to work a graveyard shift in the Supplemental Questionnaire. Shift Differentials may apply.

Bilingual Compensation: Candidates assigned to Bilingual positions must be certified through San Bernardino County Human Resources in order to receive this additional compensation.

Minimum Requirements

Experience: Three (3) months of full-time food service experience in a restaurant, fast food establishment, cafeteria, hotel, banquet room, hospital, correctional facility kitchen, school, military, senior living facility or similar environment.

-AND-

Certificate: Incumbents must obtain a San Bernardino County Food Handler's Certificate within two (2) weeks of hire.

Desired Qualifications

English/Spanish bilingual skills and experience in a healthcare setting is highly desired.
