Job Description:

Purpose:

Under general supervision, perform routine building and equipment maintenance tasks in repair, installation, maintenance, and construction for electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electromechanical systems in all AUS facilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Preforms overnight and early morning airfield maintenance operations during 3rd shirt hours and low flight activity periods involving the inspection and torquing of airfield lighting fixtures, signs, and associated electrical equipment throughout the Air Operations Area (AOA). Operates within active airfield movement and non-movement areas while maintaining strict compliance with FAA, TSA, Airport Operations, and City of Austin safety standards. Responsible for safely navigating the airfield in company vehicle during nighttime operations, maintaining required movement area certification, documenting completed work, and supporting the safe and reliable operation of airport airfield systems with minimal impact to aircraft operations. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Salary Range:

$23.13 - $26.26 per hour

DRIVING REQUIREMENT:

This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA.

This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ASSESSMENT:

A skills assessment will be required for this position.

SHIFT INCENTIVE:

Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.

VETERAN:

Veteran candidates will be required to provide a copy of their DD214 at the time of interview.

CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK:

Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10-year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.

OVERTIME:

Overtime may be required with or without notice.

WORK HOURS:

Sunday - Thursday; 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM

Hours may change depending on departmental needs. Work hours may include after-hours, holidays, and weekend work
