Position Summary:Responsible for the overall leadership, organization, and administration of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program. Ensures the program complies with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements while maintaining a high-quality educational environment that promotes resident development & well-being, patient safety, and professional excellence. Provides strategic direction for the residency program and oversees faculty participation, resident education, evaluation processes, and program improvement initiatives.
Job RequirementEducation/Experience:Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, three (3) years of clinical practice experience as a Diagnostic Radiologist, and three (3) years of educational and/or administrative experience (e.g., Residency PD or APD). ACGME-accredited radiology residency program and actively involved in resident teaching. Board Certified in Radiology.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:Valid License by the State of Nevada to practice medicine. Certification by the American Board of Radiology or the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology. Substance Registration Certificate. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical RequirementsKnowledge of:Residency program structure and curriculum; the management structure of the residency and maintain effective relationships; compliance with ACGME and institutional GME policies; accreditation standards; development and oversight of curriculum; ABR training requirements; resident selection process; general human resource functions and principles; general financial and budgetary processes and principles; principles of record keeping and confidentiality (including HIPAA compliance); residency related software and applications; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:Teaching and educational innovation, advocacy for the education of residents; preparing documentation for ACGME accreditation and site visits; maintaining program policies and procedures; promoting a strong academic learning environment; monitoring educational outcomes; reviewing resident and faculty feedback; providing constructive feedback and discipline; implementing program improvements; prioritizing work independently; adapting and adjusting to new or changing situations; organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing work for self and others to meet deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; utilizing interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; working positively to resolve issues by bringing concerns to the appropriate person(s); report writing; paying attention to details; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties.
