The District Attorney's Office
The Ventura County District Attorney's Office is the public prosecutor for the county's 850,000 residents. Our office employs approximately 310 employees including attorneys, investigators, victim advocates, and other professional staff who strive to seek justice, ensure public safety, and protect the rights of crime victims to ensure we fulfill the mission of the District Attorney's Office to promote justice and protect the citizens of Ventura County.

The Position
Under general direction, provides technical assistance to department/agency personnel by supporting and coordinating tasks related to office automation systems. This classification requires a working ability to do feasibility studies, problem analysis, conceptual systems design, micro-computer programming, occasional systems maintenance and repair, analysis and recommendations for purchase of new equipment and vendor liaison.

The ideal candidate for the Office Systems Coordinator III/IV role is a forward-thinking technical leader who can bridge the gap between complex network infrastructure and daily legal operations. They possess deep expertise in system automation and a foundational understanding of AI technologies to drive departmental efficiency. This individual is a proactive problem-solver, capable of managing high-level projects independently-such as hybrid cloud migrations and cybersecurity hardening-while providing mentorship and supervision to technical staff in a high-stakes, mission-driven environment.

APPROXIMATE SALARY:
Office Systems Coordinator III : $79,834.68 - $111,975.46 annually
Office Systems Coordinator IV: $94,865.35 - $125,989.02 annually

AGENCY/DEPARTMENT: District Attorney's Office

Office Systems Coordinator III and Office Systems Coordinator IV are represented by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and is not eligible for overtime compensation.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, Temporary, Fixed-term, Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies within the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. There is currently one (1) Regular, full-time vacancy.

NOTE: If appointed at the lower level, incumbents may be promoted to the higher level without further examination upon meeting the minimum requirements, demonstrating satisfactory performance, and in accordance with the business needs of the department.

These are entrance requirements to the examination process and assure neither continuance in the process no placement on an eligible list.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Extensive to progressively responsible experience in automated office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Office Systems Coordinator III: The required knowledge, skills and abilities also can be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with four (4) or more years of related experience.

Office Systems Coordinator IV: The required knowledge, skills, and abilities also can be obtained by completion of pertinent office systems coursework with five (5) or more years of related experience to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Substitution: An Associate's degree or 30 semester units in information systems or a related field from an accredited college or university may substitute for one (1) year of experience. A Bachelor's degree or 60 semester units in information systems or a related field from an accredited college/university may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written communication skills must be demonstrated in the application and responses to the supplemental questions.

APPLICATION EVALUATION - qualifying: All applications will be reviewed to determine whether or not the stated requirements are met. Those individuals meeting the stated requirements will be invited to continue to the next step in the screening and selection process.

ORAL EXAMINATION - 100%: A job-related Oral Examination will be conducted to evaluate and compare participating candidates' knowledge, skills, and abilities in relation to those factors which job analysis has determined to be essential for successful performance of the job. Candidates must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.

NOTE: If there are three (3) or fewer qualified applicants, an oral exam will not be conducted. Instead, a score of seventy percent (70%) will be assigned to each application, and each applicant will be placed on the eligible list.

Applicants successfully completing the exam process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: Prior to actual appointment from the eligible list, the successful candidate will be required to pass a thorough background investigation conducted by the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation. Background investigation findings may be a basis for removal from the eligible list.
