Description

Overview

The O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant is maintained by a team of Utility Technicians, including Utility Technician Ill. Technicians perform routine, preventative and corrective maintenance actions as well as complete internal plant projects to ensure the facility continues to operate and provide an uninterrupted water supply to the distribution system and meets state and federal regulations. This includes operations and maintenance of satellite locations (pumps stations and elevated storage tanks)

Responsibilities

• Identify maintenance needs and complete preventative, corrective, and routine maintenance work orders in the City's Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo), including documenting labor, materials, and completed work

• Operate and maintain equipment such as tractors, zero-turn mowers, front-end loaders, forklifts, backhoes, trailers, overhead cranes, mobile cranes, generators, water pumps, and chemical feed pumps

• Coordinate internal plant projects, corrective maintenance activities, and equipment upgrades while supporting technicians through project completion

• Determine materials, equipment, and resources needed for maintenance and plant projects while ensuring timely and efficient completion of work

• Maintain landscaping and grounds across 170 acres of water treatment plants, pump stations, and City-owned properties, including building upkeep and security perimeter maintenance

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Non-Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week

• Must be available to work additional hours as needed

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED

• Three (3) years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

• Class A CDL

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
