About the Opportunity THE POSITION Stanislaus County General Services Agency is currently accepting applications for the position of Equipment Services Technician. In this role you would be responsible to lubricate and service automotive equipment and assist mechanics by performing the less skilled repair and maintenance work.

TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEK OF May 4TH. Click here for details. Typical Tasks - Lubricate and service automobiles, tractors, light duty trucks, boat motors, and small engine equipment powered by gasoline;
- Assist equipment mechanics with work involving the overhaul of engines, transmissions and ignition systems;
- Assist equipment mechanics in assembling engines, tuning up motors and installing electrical wiring;
- Inspect for and report any worn or defective parts or equipment;
- Perform heavy manual tasks such as unloading supplies, moving equipment and removal of waste materials;
- Keep records on servicing performed on each piece of equipment;
- Perform minor brake, exhaust, and shock absorber work; and
- Work with tire mounting and dismounting, tire balancing.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education/Experience) KNOWLEDGE - Methods, tools, materials and equipment used in the maintenance, adjustment and repair of gasoline fueled equipment; and
- Principles of preventive maintenance.
SKILLS/ABILITIES - Read and write;
- Perform manual labor requiring physical strength and agility;
- Perform the less skilled tasks involving the repairs and servicing of automotive equipment;
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
- Work cooperatively with others; and
- Keep simple records.
EXPERIENCE - One (1) year of experience in automotive maintenance work including minor servicing and lubricating, tire mounting, dismounting, balancing, brake work and exhaust work.

EXAMINATION PROCESSMost County recruitments consists of the steps detailed below and are governed by Merit Principles. The examination process ensures that all applicants are given the same opportunity to gain employment within Stanislaus County.

- Eligible Lists. Candidates who pass the examination will be placed on an eligible list for that classification. Eligible lists are effective for six months but may be extended up to eighteen months.
